BLOG POST #1 "Before Reading"

Post a picture of something you find beautiful, and something you find ugly and explain the reasoning behind these choices in a paragraph.

  • Neither are completely beautiful, really. Sorry, Taysha. :) But, like so many other pictures, they have potential. Taysha, what with her being a puppy and my being biased, seems beautiful to me. While Oscar the Grouch, sporting his apathetic scowl, miserable attitude and waste-covered fur, is hideous. Plus, he was rude to Zoe when I was in Kindergarten. Hence my decision. :D
    .

How do you define beauty?

  • Dictionary.com describes beauty as, "the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, weather arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, ect.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest)." But I think that maybe, maybe they had it wrong. Well, not wrong, but missing something. Because beauty can be what shines through small eyes and wide noses. Beauty, in some people, can be talent.

What would the world be like if everyone was 'beautiful'?

  • If everyone was beautiful? Then no one would be. They'd be normal. Lost in the crowd of their stunning peers. But some people, inevitably, would strive to be better. To be dazzling. To be first. The cycle restarts itself. :)
